Happy Fall

The cool crisp mornings and the changing of the leaves means autumn or fall has arrived. The change of the season from summer to fall is typically very much anticipated and the colorful fall leaves are a wonderful and welcomed sight. The array of reds, yellows, purples, browns, mixed in with the occasional greens are indeed charming and good for the soul. Fall comes and goes and the colorful show unfortunately lasts for only a little while. If you haven't noticed this happening around our wonderful town, take time to notice the trees on your way to work, or take your furry friend for an evening walk.

Halloween Pet Safety
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Halloween is a fun time for people to dress up and have fun, but it can be a very stressful time for the 4 legged members of our families. Here are some safety tips for everyone in the household.
Keep your indoor/outdoor cats IN on Halloween & "Goosey Night" (the night before). It’s an unbelievably despicable truth that bad people torture and “sacrifice” cats during this time of year. Old time lore of witches and goblins has somehow planted seeds of this mishandling of our felines. Be on the safe side and put up with the yowling but keep your cat inside!
Don't leave candy where your pets can reach it. Candy isn’t a treat for pets, even if they beg for it. Some candies can be downright toxic based on the size of the pet and the type of treat. Avoid a rush visit to the Animal ER and keep the candy out of reach of prying paws and noses.
If your pets are easily riled by noise, find a quiet room for them while you are handing out treats. Most pets are excited at the prospect of company, but the consistent parade of strangers dressed in outlandish costumes can cause your dog or cat anxiety. They may be tempted to run through the door either at your trick-or-treaters or right past them into the street.
Don't give in to your urge to give your pets EXTRA of their own treats. Your pets have a really delicate digestive system. Too many treats causes tummy trouble. And in my experience, doggy tummy trouble keeps everyone up all night.
If you take your dog with you trick-or- treating, be aware that he may react 'out of sorts' to all the noise and commotion of small children. Make sure you have your dog on a short leash (no retractable ones please – they catch on kids’ costumes and are much harder to control than a 6 foot lead).
Keep your pets away from candles. Jack-o- lanterns look great with a candle glowing inside, but place it in a safe spot, far from nosey whiskers!
Following basic safety tips is always a good idea, but paying extra attention to your pets’ needs during Halloween ensures a good time and happy memories for everyone!
Daffodil
Daffodil is as sweet as she is pretty. She likes to saunter over to you and head butt you for attention. She can be a little grabby with her claws, so a home with no toddlers is recommended. In addition to cuddling, she likes to explore and see what cool stuff is going on. She is independent enough that she would do well in with a working family, but not so independent that she won't be thrilled to see you when you get home at night.
